Between a Zalo Mini App, a Zalo OA, and a website, no channel is “the best”. There is only the channel that fits where your customers come from and how big the team is right now.
Zalo is the most used messaging app in Vietnam. A Zalo OA (Official Account) is a business profile on Zalo. A Mini App is a small app that runs inside Zalo. Pick the wrong one first and you can spend tens of millions of VND, then make day-to-day work harder. This article comes from more than 13 years of 123Website advising and building for hundreds of businesses, so you can weigh it up before you decide.
In short
- Start with a website when customers search for the service on Google, or when you need a landing page for ads.
- A Zalo OA plus a Zalo Form is enough when the team is 1 or 2 people and customers already message you on Zalo.
- A Mini App earns its cost when you already have regular customers who need booking, loyalty points, or repeat orders.
- A 60-day path: build the site and the OA, run a small ad budget, measure, and only then brief a Mini App.

The truth about building the app before the website
Many people assume a Mini App makes the business easier to find and easier to buy from. The two channels do different jobs:
- Mini App: a place to keep existing customers (retention).
- Website: a better place to bring in new customers (acquisition) than a Mini App.

There is no SEO method that puts a Zalo Mini App on the first page of Google. Google Ads also needs a clear URL with a page that can persuade someone, and a Mini App is not built for that.
Build a Mini App before you have enough customers and it is easy for it to become an app you show off, rather than a channel that takes orders.
Example: one knowledge article on our website was shown 28,945 times on Google in 28 days. Zalo does not replace organic reach on that scale.
When the website has to come first
The website is the base. Put it first if:
- Customers search on Google: they look up the service there (for example “SEO services”, “cafe website design”, “braces price list”).
- You need to run ads: you need a clear public face and a landing page that converts, for Google Ads or Facebook Ads.
- You need room to show the offer: a complex product catalogue, a knowledge blog, an FAQ, and proof of the work (case studies).

From what 123Website sees in search results, niche queries (gyms, pet shops, dental clinics) still rarely show an AI Overview, the AI summary Google puts at the top of the page.
Publish the right pages on a site that was structured properly from the start, and the site often reaches the top of those niche results fairly quickly. In these niche markets a website clearly outperforms an app built just so the business can say it has one.
When a Zalo OA and a Zalo Form are already enough
Say the team is 1 or 2 people. Almost every lead messages you on Zalo to ask for advice or a quote.
Upgrading to a Zalo OA and using a Zalo Form (a lead form inside Zalo) is the cheaper, more sensible move. You do not need a Mini App yet.
Note: keeping two copies of the same content (prices on the website and prices in the app) takes real staff time. A price that does not match across the two channels is one of the fastest ways to lose a customer’s trust.
Deal with the work in front of you: handle Zalo OA chats well, send a form to collect the customer’s details, and close the order.

When a Zalo Mini App is worth the money
A Mini App starts to pay off when you already have regular customers, OA chats come in steadily every day, and you need to handle the following:
- Automation: booking and repeat purchases, so the person on chat does not resend the price list all day.
- Keeping customers: a proper points system and membership tiers.
- Synced data: budget and someone on staff to sync stock and prices with the website or an ERP.
A practical note: a standard Mini App package is not expensive, but a complex ERP integration can triple the cost.

A 60-day path for a small team
So the cost and the workload stay manageable, we usually suggest this order:

- Weeks 1 to 2: Build the website (watch speed on phones, including WebP compression) and register a Zalo OA. Customers read the detail on the site, then tap Zalo to talk to you.
- Weeks 3 to 4: Run a small ad budget to the service page. Use a Zalo Form plus ads, or OA chat, to collect leads, and roster someone to reply. A form on its own is not a follow-up process.
- Weeks 5 to 8: Measure. If 70 to 80 percent of orders come from Zalo, and customers keep coming back to book, that is when you brief a Mini App. The first version only needs a core feature such as booking or a membership card. Do not copy the whole website into an app.
123Website lists template website plans from VND 4.99 million. You can see the full price list. A Mini App is usually priced module by module.

So when you compare quotes, look at the scope of work, not just one total figure.
A practical pick by industry
- Cafes and spas: a fast menu or booking page, plus Google Business and a Zalo OA for follow-up. (See cafe website templates.)
- Pet shops and retail: the website should be a full product catalogue, built for SEO. Use the Zalo OA to close orders. Consider a Mini App only when the chat volume is more than the team can handle. (See pet website templates.)
