Google Maps SEO and a local website: check your details, the contact path, and the results

Before you spend more on Google Maps SEO, check the joins between the business profile and the local website: matching details, a page that lets people call or send a request, real reviews, and a named person who keeps the data current.

Google Maps SEO and a local website: check your details, the contact path, and the results

A customer opens Maps, taps through to the website, and finds opening hours that differ from the business profile. Or the address is right, but the call button rings a number you no longer use. Fix these before you push Google Maps SEO or spend more to bring extra customers in.

Check Google Maps SEO and your local website as a series of joins along the path a customer takes. Ranking is only one part. Whether people find the right place and get a response also depends on accurate details and the people who run them.

In short

  • Data: address, phone number, and opening hours match on the profile and the website.
  • Landing page: the right location, with a working call and a way to send a request.
  • Reviews: invite real customers. Do not trade a gift for a review.

Check the data for each location

Start by checking each item against what is actually true at that place:

  • Business name and the pin.
  • Address, including an entrance that needs directions.
  • Phone number and the website URL.
  • Opening hours, including special hours.

Address and hours need to match the Maps profile

The page people open from Maps should help them take the next step

Where the website has a suitable page, each location’s profile should point to a page that describes that place. The page needs:

  • The address and directions.
  • A way to call.
  • The services on offer there.

Sending every location to one shared page leaves the customer unsure which place to choose.

Try it on a phone: open the link from the profile, tap call, and send a request. If the images are heavy, check the files you are loading against the image workflow.

That said, swapping images will not fix a wrong contact button or a form that nobody receives.

Keep the website name, address, and phone in sync with Google Maps

Rankings change with the person who searches

Google explains that local results depend mainly on relevance, distance, and prominence.

Three local ranking factors

One search on the owner’s phone does not stand in for every customer in a different place.

When you track Google Maps SEO, write down the query, the place, and the time. An incognito window does not remove the effect of location.

Note: do not use one screenshot of the results to promise another business a ranking or a time to reach the top.

Invite reviews that match the real visit

You can send the review link to customers who used the service and ask them to write from that visit. Google’s guidance does not allow:

  • A gift in exchange for a review.
  • Inviting only the customers likely to praise you.
  • Paying someone to write a fake review.

Example: “If it is convenient, you can share how your visit went through this link. Your feedback helps us see what to improve.” Skip any hint about the star rating or the words they should use.

When you get critical feedback, reply with relevant information, and move a detailed conversation to a private channel when you need to. Leave the customer’s personal data out of the public reply.

Checklist for running a Google Business Profile

Follow the path from the tap to a real request

A tap on call or directions is not yet a transaction. Compare the profile figures with:

  • Calls that someone answered.
  • Requests that qualify.
  • How those requests were resolved.

Keep the same definition each time you compare periods.

If you use UTM parameters to identify visits from the profile, label that link. Then check how the form stores the source when the customer submits. See how to check UTM parameters and the form.

Do not add UTM parameters to every internal link just to measure how people arrive on the website.

Measuring leads from Maps to the website

Name who updates the information

  • One owner keeps the location details.
  • One person handles inquiries.

Whenever the number changes, a site moves, or the hours change, recheck every place that shows that data. When you change the form or the channel that receives it, send one test submission.

The listed price of the GOLD package is VND 4,990,000 on the price list. The website price does not, by default, include managing the Maps profile, advertising, or any ranking promise.

For a restaurant, the article on checking venue details and reviews goes further into the menu, service hours, and how people get there. To have the contact path of your business reviewed, send the URL and the location you use.
