How does managed VPS differ from a regular VPS?
With a regular VPS, you receive an empty server and install the operating system, web server and database yourself, as well as handling security updates, backups and issues. With 123Website Managed VPS, our technicians handle initial setup and configuration, regular security updates, automatic weekly backups, server monitoring and firewall configuration. You retain full SSH and DirectAdmin access.
When should I move from hosting to VPS?
Managed hosting is enough for most company websites and medium-sized online stores. Consider VPS for multiple websites on one server, high traffic or software unsupported by the hosting environment. VPS provides dedicated CPU, RAM and disk resources, so other sites' heavy loads do not affect yours. If unsure, send your domain and a website description. We will review the situation and advise whether to use managed hosting or move to a VPS.
Should I choose S, M or a larger package?
S (4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 70 GB SSD) suits a single website or landing page. M (6 vCPU, 10 GB RAM, 90 GB SSD) balances performance and support. L, XL, XXL and Pro suit multiple sites, high traffic or business infrastructure. As traffic grows, request an upgrade without reinstalling. What does management cover?
Management covers server infrastructure: initial setup and configuration (operating system, web server, PHP, database), regular security updates, automatic weekly backups and recovery assistance, server monitoring and issue alerts, firewall and fail2ban configuration, free SSL for domains on the server and free DirectAdmin. It excludes website source code development and content optimization. For advanced tasks such as database tuning, CDN setup or complex migrations, you can add an hourly technician package.
Can I move from hosting or VPS with another provider?
Yes. Send your domain, website description and access to your current service. We set up the VPS, back up your old site, migrate data and check everything before pointing the domain, so your site keeps running at the old location during migration. Cost and timing depend on your site's size and structure; our consultant confirms them before work begins.
